Only The Best

My wife gave me the job of purchasing the furniture for our newest baby. She knows I am very particular about furniture, and when it comes to our newest addition in the family I will take no second bests! So before I even went to the store I went online and read about the reviews for every product we might need. I read up on the products people actually use, and those that sound like a good idea, but then never leave the box.

One of the products I was not sure about was the cradling swing. I have heard people talk about it, but in my head that was just a wasted expense to show you have money to spend. Now I am the person who will spend more money for the right product to last, and if it will help I will get it, but I am not one to spend money when it is not necessary. So I read heavily on this product. After careful consideration it seemed that the swing actually helped babies who had a hard time sleeping, and our lovely child does love to cry until someone picks her up. So the next step was to find the best brand and product from that brand.

After hours online and visiting a few stores, I settled on the top rated ingenuity cradling swing. This swing had the best return policy if anything was found faulty with it. However, every single review I found had nothing bad about it. It also had the most features to help the child stay asleep and comfortable.

I bought the swing after our baby was born to see if she would be fine sleeping on her own or not, and of course newborns have a hard time doing that. So I went to the store and purchased the ingenuity inlighten cradling swing and set it up. Within 10 minutes our daughter was asleep and stayed asleep for several hours. She loves the cradling swing, and I love the time it gives both myself and my wife while she is asleep. Time we would be spending walking around the house frustrated trying to get her to sleep is spent cleaning the house, or eating before she wakes up. I love our new cradling swing.

What I Learned

I awoke to the sound of birds chirping. I rose up, opened my window and looked at the Modesto hot tubs sitting outside. I frowned knowing that I would have to clean it today instead of lounging in it. During the summers, I work every Saturday cleaning my neighbor Sami’s hot tub. I am about half of Sami’s age, but we’ve always clicked really well ever since I became her neighbor. She lost her late husband around the same time that I lost my father, both due to heart attacks. When we were mourning, we bonded and helped each other out in such a hard time. It’s really great to have a friend that is with you through thick and thin.

I made my way over to her house and began my usual cleaning. She came out onto the deck and sat on the patio and watched me work. She had brought out a pitcher of lemonade with her.

“Cassie, can you come have a seat?” She asked me.

“Sure, Sami. What’s going on?”

“I have a proposition for you. I’m looking to sell this hot tub. Would you be interested?”

I was astonished. I couldn’t believe she was trying to sell her hot tub. She has had this hot tub for decades. It was such a staple of her identity.

“Why are you wanting to sell it?” I inquired.

“I’m moving. And I wan-“ I cut her off before she could finish her sentence.

“You’re moving?! Why? What’s going on?” I was talking at a million miles a second.

“Calm down, honey. I’m going to live with my son. I think it is best because things have certainly not been easy since I lost James…” She recollected. “..Anyways, I want someone special to have it. That someone special is you.”

“Why me?” I asked.

“You’ve been here with me through everything the past couple of years. You hold me up when I’m weak. And you certainly take good care of it.” She explained.

“Well, y-!” She cut me off before I could give her my final answer.

“I just have one condition. I want you to really live with this hot tub. Not just something in your backyard you get into every once in a while. Really use it, like me and my family did.” She went inside and came back out with a photo album. She laid it on the table and opened up a lifelong of memories. There were hundreds of pictures of birthday parties, celebrations, cookouts and more. All the pictures involved the hot tub.

“James and I had so many great memories with this hot tub. We raised our kids and our grandkids around it. It really meant a lot to the both of us.”

“I’ll use it all the time! I’ll make it a part of my life just like it was a part of yours. Don’t worry, I won’t let those memories be forgotten.” I assured her.

“You have no idea how much that means to be, Cassie. Don’t let my family’s memories be forgotten, and create your own new ones with your family.”

“Of course. I have no doubt that my kids are going to be thrilled about the news! And Sami, I want you to know that you can come over anytime you’d like to see it. As long as you give me a good deal on it, of course.”

We laughed and went back inside her house to talk more about the deal.

Dream Come True

If you live in California, you probably own a hot tub, right? That’s what I had always thought, anyway, and it was one of the arguments I used to talk my husband into buying a hot tub. George (my husband) and I live in Stockton. Hot tubs are very popular here and I felt like we were one of the few people in our neighborhood who didn’t own one.

George didn’t understand why I wanted a hot tub so badly. I explained that hot tubs are used outdoors and we have great weather in Stockton. “Hot tubs make sense here!” I argued. He counter-argued that hot tubs are used in warm climates, like ours, but they’re also used everywhere else. He reminded me that even ski resorts feature outdoor hot tubs.

I had to come up with another reason as to why we should buy a hot tub. I reminded George that he has a bad back and hot tubs are great for easing aches and pains. I also reminded him about how often he complains about job stress and asked him if there’s anything more relaxing than soaking in a hot tub. When he couldn’t come up with a good answer, he agreed to visit a hot tub dealership with me the very next day.

When we arrived at the hot tub store, we were really impressed by how much time the saleswoman spent with us. She seemed really interested in finding out exactly why we wanted a hot tub so that she could recommend the ideal make and model to us. She wasn’t a high-pressure salesperson at all and didn’t simply push the most expensive make and model on us. She asked questions about our preferences, our budget, and our location. I told her that we lived in Stockton. “Hot tubs are great for people who live in climates like yours. Even though winters can be quite cold and summers get really hot, you’ll be using your hot tub all year round.”

George and I were also impressed by how knowledgeable the saleswoman was about all the different kinds of hot tubs Stockton CA had to offer on the market. She was able to answer all of the questions we had right then and there. Once we had the information we needed, she gave us a few minutes to discuss it on our own. Within 5 minutes, we had made our decision!

Fast forward six months—George and I are still loving our hot tub! The ease that it’s brought to our minds and bodies has been unbelievable. My only complaint is that we didn’t buy one sooner!
